Holding Hands

Our vision, mission and values drive the work we do every day.

Mission

Our mission is to help refugees rebuild their lives by offering housing assistance, educational programs, and employment opportunities. With our compassionate team and community partnerships, we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all refugees seeking a fresh start.

Our Values

  • Love, Compassion & Empathy

We believe people should be valued, seen and accepted for who they are, and not judged by their circumstances and past.

  • Equity & Social Justice

Equity and social justice go hand in hand.  We work with members by providing resources that are proportionate to what they need in order to thrive.

  • Community & Collective Responsibility

We believe that working together as a community is the only way to end homelessness.

  • Accountability & Transparency

We are governed by our board of directors.

Our Vision

The LANAWAE HOUSING CENTER serves as a popular gathering place for community involvement, cultural interchange, and a sanctuary for refugees. It provides a nurturing environment for support, self-improvement, recovery, personal and career growth, and serves as a platform for empowerment, fostering strengths, and guiding individuals towards achieving their goals.

WE WILL BE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE RESIDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY

Living in a supportive housing environment can improve someone's health, help them become more stable, keep families together, and keep vulnerable senior citizens safer.

We can offer computer and phone access, assist with booking appointments, acquiring personal identification, writing resumes, a knowledgeable resource center based around the needs of the surrounding area. Residents and people from the community will be able to access a food bank on site. We also take in unwanted pets and can re-home them, cause just like we keep the Indigenous individuals safe, we are a safe haven for animals discarded in the area.

Since some of the homeless in the area will now have a safe place to sleep at night, they will decrease the amount of criminal activity they engage in. We will also assist with preparing them by offering them minor laborer and retail work experience. Therefore the provincial and federal governments will not have to spend as much money for costly systems such as jails, rehabs, and hospitals. In addition to the lowered criminal activity more money will be going back into the local businesses due to the increase of people working in the neighborhood.
